position paper:
the selection of leaders
The purpose of this paper is to establish the minimum requirements by which the Governing Board of Elders will evaluate and recommend potential church officers and related positions to serve in Front Range Alliance Church. The qualifications differ in accordance with the office or position being considered and are grouped and presented accordingly:
A. Group One – Licensed and Ordained Pastoral Staff and Elders
They must be men of proven character, in both their private and public life, in accordance with I Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
They must be men who have a good knowledge of the Scriptures and are in agreement with the Christian and Missionary Alliance doctrinal statement and the local church By-laws, Philosophies of Ministry, and Elder Position Papers. Licensed and ordained pastors must meet all of the requirements of the Mid-America District’s L and O Committee. Waivers to the above will be considered only in the area of eschatology. This waiver possibility applies to elders only and will be dealt with on a case by case basis.
They must be men who are already members of Front Range Alliance Church or who qualify for membership and are taking the steps necessary to become members.
B. Group Two – Deacons and Deaconesses
They must be men and women of proven character, in both their private and public lives, in accordance with I Timothy 3:8-13.
They must have a basic understanding of the Scriptures and be in harmony with the Christian and Missionary Alliance doctrinal statement and the local church By-laws, Philosophies of Ministry, and Elder Position Papers. Any differences with the aforementioned areas will be examined by the Governing Board on a case-by-case basis.
They must already be members of Front Range Alliance Church or qualify for membership and are taking the steps necessary to become members.
C. Group Three – Teachers, Program Leaders, Workers and Volunteers
They must be men and women who meet the qualifications and conduct requirements outlined under Part IV of our local church policy entitled “Qualifications and Conduct of Appointed Leaders, Workers and Volunteers”, dated March 16, 1995.
They must be in basic harmony with the Christian and Missionary Alliance doctrinal statement and the local church By-laws, Philosophies of Ministry and Elder Position Papers. Where not in agreement with these documents, they will agree to not teach contrary to them. Any significant differences will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
They need not be members of the church but should normally be in regular attendance at Front Range Alliance Church.
